On March 7, 2019, the Indonesian Sugar Research Institute (ISRI) welcomed a visitation from the Cultural Heritage Expert Team of East Java in order to verify the colonial building at the ISRI as a candidate of cultural heritage in Pasuruan city. As a follow up to the submission of several colonial buildings in Pasuruan city by the Office of Education and Culture of Pasuruan city, the cultural heritage expert team of East Java did the survey to study and identify the buildings. Among the 18 colonial buildings in Pasuruan city proposed, the auditorium/building H of ISRI is one of them.
Exhibition “Pasoeroean Djaman Bijen”
From March 22 to 24, 2019, P3GI participated in the exhibition “Djero Bijen Pasoeroean”. The event was organised by the Department of Tourism, Youth and Sports in the framework of the 333rd Anniversary of Pasuruan city. Located at GOR Untung Suropati, this annual event was participated by a number of institutions, schools, and communities. Additionally, the event was enlivened by various arts attractions and hawker sellers.
Visitation of Dutch Guests
On March 4, 2019, the Indonesian Sugar Research Institute (ISRI) received a visit from Hans, a Dutch citizen, who came to search for a house where his family had lived. In the 1930s, his mother had lived in one of the official residence owned by ISRI (formerly called as “Proefstation Oost-Java/ POJ”), following his grandfather, who was a researcher at the POJ. He had an old photo showing the figure of his mother in childhood who was standing in front of the POJ house, Hans finally found the house he searched.
Sugarcane Training
From February 12 to 14, 2019, the Indonesian Sugar Research Institute (ISRI) held sugar training which was attended by 15 officers from Customs and Execise Laboratory of Medan, Jakarta, dan Surabaya. The training material was sugar analysis, including white crystal sugar, raw crystal sugar, and refined crystal sugar.
